Road and railway construction
At road, railway and dam construction draining of the surface water below the structure, layer separation and filtration has to be handled by installing woven and non woven geotextiles. In case the subgrade’s load capacity does not reach a predefined value, the subgrade can be stabilized using geogrids and woven geotextiles and furthermore the structural thickness can also be reduced
Slope protection
The key to erosion control is the protection of the upper soil layer against wind and rain and increasing the shear force between the soil layers. The installation of erosion control mats, geocells, providing immediate protection, is a proved method to reach the desired results. The erosion control effect can be increased by planting vegetation layer. If the slope surface structure is too loose and not fit for steel fixing pin installation then slope protection can be assured by special, strengthened mat fixed at the top anchor trench. In case of steep slopes retaining walls can be built by using uniaxial geogrids, which provides natural green surfaces.
River bed and bank protection
The surface of the banks around rivers, lakes and other watercourses can be badly eroded by waves, continuous current and sediment movements, which can easily lead to wash-outs and therefore ruining of the bank. The stability of the river bank can be retained by either full or part erosion control under the water level. Some erosion control mats and geocells make it possible to use the same erosion control geosynthetic on both wet and dry slopes.
Landfill construction
In construction of landfills for dangerous or non-dangerous wastes, solid or liquid wastes and storages for solid or liquid manure the usage of geosynthetics is essential. As a sealing layer impermeable geomembranes are used; to protect the sealing layer non woven geotextile layer is installed. When closing the landfills, to ease the unfavorable construction conditions due to the configuration of the ground, geocomposite seepage layer is installed for draining off water and gas; geocomposite slope protection layer can be used to help the settlement of natural vegetation.
Drainage / Dewatering
The presence of water in building structures can have destructive effects, like washing out, or the effects of freezing cycles. The forces affecting our structures can also increase the destructive effects of water movements. The ideal water draining system can be easily built by using the appropriate geosynthetics, for both short and long distances, providing the long time stability of our structures.
Tunnel construction
Long-term safety and reliability is an essential factor when building tunnels with underground boring or with above the ground technique; this is significantly influenced by the lack of proper drainage. The usage of Enkadrain surface seepage products in tunnel construction projects is a proven solution for safe water drainage and the protection of the tunnel coating. Enkadrain, with easy and fast installation on large areas, conforms to even the most complex geometrical shapes.
